About

Edit: I noticed a bug in this Web build version where audio starts clicking at some points. Sorry about this. When I have time I will see if I can fix it.

Pitch Dash is a rhythm that helps you memorise the pitch patterns for some common Japanese words, with the goal of raising your general awareness of Japanese pitch accent (something that can be difficult for non-native speakers).

I originally released this game for Android in November 2021, but it was removed from the Google Play Store due to not being able to install on some devices for some reason, and I didn't manage to get it back up. I decided to upload a WebGL version here to archive the project.

The only thing I have changed is that I used this plugin (which appears to be based on this thread) to get the audio visualiser working in the WebGL version, since Unity does not support GetSpectrumData in WebGL builds. I had to tweak the code a bit to get it working properly.

Disclaimers

The intention of this game is just to help you remember the pitch patterns and not to teach you the correct pronunciation. Of course, the voice in this game is based on a vocaloid and does not sound natural, so you should not mimic it!

Also, I apologise that it is a bit difficult to distinguish between the 平板 (Heiban) and 尾高 (Odaka) patterns in this game. I think it would have been better if I included a particle after each word (since the only difference between those 2 patterns is the pitch of the following particle). Maybe this could be a future update!
